As I sit here, looking out at our lustrous Tulip Magnolia in bloom, a carpet of soft emerald green grass lying beneath it, and listen to the lovely soprano voices of birds filling the warm, breezy air with music, I can't help but compare this state of "aaaahhhh" to the cold winter days of just a few weeks ago.

I'll admit that during this winter we had beautiful, hushed moments like this one:
But mostly it felt really cold and really dark with a 70% chance of snow or ice and a 100% chance of cabin fever.
All. Winter. Long.
"I love snow, but I'm so over it now!" many people lamented bitterly to me by the time March rolled around and dumped yet more snow and ice on us. I'd agree, and then we'd exchange looks of disgust for Mother Nature's audacity to bring the Frozen Tundra to those of us living in Virginia, the land of supposedly mild winters.
But I suppose if it was sunny and warm everyday and we could go outside without a jacket and the landscape was always bursting with color and the birds were always chirping away melodiously we might just take it all for granted.
But today, I don't think so.
