American historian, Pulitzer Prize-winning biographer and political commentator, Doris Kearns Goodwin, has spent multiple decades researching, writing and delving into the lives of past American presidents. In the video below, Dr. Goodwin delivers a compelling speech about what we can learn from these presidents' life choices. 

She strongly emphasizes the importance of giving equal amounts of energy to three spheres of life: love, work and play. She says, "To pursue all three [spheres] with equal dedication is to make possible a life filled not only with achievement, but with serenity.”
